Obituary for Louise A. Hughes

Louise A. Hughes (nee Garcia), 88 years young, passed away with her family by her side on March 18, 2017.

Family will be receiving friends and condolences beginning at 9:30 am Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church of Lansdale, PA followed by funeral services at 10 am.  Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Bensalem, PA.   All are welcome to celebrate the life of Louise both at the ceremony and at the reception which will be at Center Square Golf Club at 2pm.

Louise was born in Brooklyn, NY to Manuel and Josefina Garcia on May 15, 1928. 
She was the beloved mother of Patricia McCallen, Mary L. Colletti, Christine Hawks, Caroleen Boland, Margaret Delaney, and James Hughes III.  She adored her 18 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren, as well as her nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by a son, William Hughes.

She was employed for over ten years by Roadway Trucking Company. Louise enjoyed working hard until her 87th birthday, including over 20 years with Rhone-Poulenc Rorer and 28 years of dedicated service to the USGA, leading the Women’s Amateur Public Links Championships.  When she wasn’t celebrating life with her family or working hard, Louise loved golfing with her Center Square Golf Club family.
