Obituary for Michael Keith Goodwin

Mr. Michael Keith Goodwin, 54, died on March 19, 2018 at Lankenau Hospital in Wynnewood, PA.

Born in Petersburg, VA, Mr. Goodwin was a resident of Springfield for the past four years. Prior to that he had resided in Upper Darby, Seaford, DE, as well as in and around Richmond, VA.

A Navy veteran, Mr. Goodwin was later became a critical care flight paramedic. He was in the Coast Guard Auxillary and served as public relations director for the U.S. Coast Guard Pipe Band. Mr. Goodwin was a member of many ambulance corps in Virginia, Delaware, and also with the Springfield Ambulance Corps for the past 11 years. He met his wife Amy when he took a position as a JeffSTAT critical care tranport and flight medic in 2005. He was awarded a purple heart as well as the Navy Commendation Medal for act of heroism, diving into a quarry in the attempt to rescue two teenage girls trapped in a car during his military service.

He is survived by his wife, Amy Lesher Goodwin, and his mother, Sharon Goodwin, as well as his mother and father-in law, John and Linda Lesher, brother and sister-in-law Andrew and Amy Lesher, and nephews Luke, Grant, and Ethan Lesher.

Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Saturday, April 7,
after 10:30 AM at the Covenant United Methodist Church, 212 W. Springfield Road, Springfield, PA 19064 followed immediately by his memorial service at 11:30 AM.

Inurnment will be in the church memorial garden.
