Mrs. Rita R. (nee Reina) Kushner, 87, of Springfield, PA, died suddenly on July 24, 2017 at  the Lankenau Hospital in Wynnewood, PA.
 
Born in Philadelphia, Mrs. Kushner was a graduate of Hallahan High School in 1947 and of Immaculata College in 1951.  A resident of Springfield since 1964, she was a dietician for the Philadelphia Board of Education, working at Southern High School in Philadelphia for 43 years.
 
She was a member of St. Kevin Church in Springfield as well as the Federated Teachers Association.  She was an avid reader.  She enjoyed writing poetry, watching movies, attending Broadway shows, and traveling.
 
She is survived by her brother, Jack (Vera) Reina of Mt. Laurel, NJ, and by many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her husband, Max Kushner, in 2009.
 
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Saturday, July 29, after 9:30 AM at the Kovacs Funeral Home, Inc., 530 W. Woodland Avenue, Springfield, PA 19064 until 10:30 AM followed by her funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. Kevin Church, 200 W. Sproul Road, Springfield, PA 19064.
 
Interment will be in SS Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
